the season is definitely changing. after a rainy morning, the sun broke through for a crisp autumn afternoon. this was last evening’s sunset at doffo winery in temecula, ca.
orange beach sunrise
the gulf coast clean-up efforts continue, with crews cleaning the sand six feet deep. the beach looks beautiful and completion is expected by january 1, 2011.
temecula golden vines
the temecula winegrowers association’s 20th annual harvest celebration kicked off yesterday with more than 30 participating wineries offering wine and food. the vines were beautiful along the driveway to palumbo family winery.

i stayed at the beautiful inn at abeja in walla walla, washington. i just loved the feel of these two chairs on the patio.
lavender dusk
we stopped at walla walla vintners this past thursday for pizza and wine. i thought the combination of lavender in the foreground with the vineyards and sky was stunning.

the wine bloggers conference in walla walla was an incredible experience. heading east from seattle, we stopped for lunch at the barking frog in woodinville.

day two on the schooner stephen taber, we anchored just off calderwood island preserve. this is one of the views from the island.

we visited ship to shore in rockland, maine, a spot where fisherman can unload their catch and buy bait. these buoys were hanging off the roof, memories of earlier times.

years ago, i used to grab my camera every morning and go for a walk, taking pictures of things that caught my eye. i shot this in the georgetown area of washington, dc. it’s a habit i want to resume.
jamaican window
i went on a photographic field trip outside negril, jamaica a few years back. we stopped at an old fort and lighthouse and i thought this window in the ruins of a building was gorgeous.
it won’t be long
the vines are dormant now, but in a few short months we will witness bud break. this picture was taken early in the growing season last year at la cereza winery.
bali lotus
the lotus is one of the most exquisite flowers i have ever seen. i took this shot when I visited bali in 2004.
iron hawk
as you drive into la cresta near the majestic santa rosa plateau, an iron hawk is there to greet you.
driving the clydesdales
at the 2006 temecula valley balloon and wine festival, the budweiser clydesdales made an appearance. i love the dalmation.

the san juan islands in washington state are unparalleled for their natural beauty. i shot this one foggy morning on orcas island.
quintana roo hibiscus
we visited xcaret in the state of quintana roo, mexico a few years ago. it’s a huge park, with beautiful flowers, birds, a river you can float down, swimming with dolphins and a theater. this hibiscus was one of the prettiest i have ever seen.
napa vines
it’s hard to get tired of looking at grape vines. these are from corison winery in the napa valley last october.
