a week in paris is a life changer. montmartre and the beautiful sacre coeur are just some of the incredible sights to see. i don’t remember ever seeing a sky like this before.

we took the train from paris to reims, france to visit mumm and veuve cliquot’s champagne houses. on the ride back to paris, i took this shot of the countryside with some vineyards in the background.

i have been visiting the san juan islands since i was a young boy. washington state is famous for its apples and i saw this gravenstein tree on a visit to orcas island in 2005.

on my first visit to cuba, i watched the sun rise over the ocean. the hotel nacional is on the left.

we stopped in st thomas, usvi in january during a cruise on holland america’s ms eurodam. the butterfly farm was a delightful stop.

on a recent visit to chateau ste. michelle in woodinville, wa, i was astounded by the number of barrels i saw. i like this angle.


oreo cows

savage oakes winery is located in union, maine. in addition to producing wine, they have a herd of belted galloway cattle. they come running when you clap your hands.


lobster roll

i stopped at the portland lobster company for lunch last week and enjoyed this delicious lobster roll along with some steamers. maine seafood is hard to beat.

june 14th is flag day in the united states of america. i was aboard the schooner stephen taber off maine’s coast when i took this shot of old glory.

On a visit to ship to shore in rockland, these lobster fishermen were getting ready for the season.


maine berry pie

rockland, maine is a quaint, charming town with delightful people. yesterday we enjoyed an inn to inn progressive lunch and a mini version of rockland’s annual pies on parade. This berry tart was served at the captain lindsey house.


nor’easter

in rockland, maine, walked from the historic limerock inn to the farnsworth museum. it was rainy and windy and i tried to capture this red leaf. the wind made it a challenge, but also made for an interesting effect.

visiting portland, me, i had dinner at walter’s. they are opening a new place at the end of the block called ginkgo blue in honor of the ginkgo tree growing in front.

arrived in maine last night for a visit to rockland, staying at historic inns, going out on lobster boats and a windjammer cruise. had to get a seafood fix last night.

robert renzoni vineyards in temecula recently held their 2nd annual spaghetti western festival. i captured this bird soaring over the foothills as i left.


confederate memorial

we were in richmond, va two years ago and visited the hollywood confederate cemetary. it’s well worth a visit.

on a visit to san juan, puerto rico in january, i walked from the harbor through old san juan. there’s so much history to take in.
