i visited with chef mark kuhlmann of san diego’s culinary underground yesterday at orfila winery in escondido. the vines on their patio have started bud break. the vineyards should be popping in three or four weeks.

the vines are dormant now, but in a few short months we will witness bud break. this picture was taken early in the growing season last year at la cereza winery.
